  • Is there an audition?
Forget the horrors of audition – there isn’t one! Only a short voice test to allow the musical director to place you in the right section for you.
  • Should I be able to read music?
The ability to read music is not important – although some experience would obviously be an advantage. All the music is taught by rote - a mechanical process of memory using copies of the music during rehearsal. Choristers are able to listen to and download rehearsal pieces of new music via the 'Members' page on the website.
  • Do the choir sing from memory?
Yes, by tradition every piece is committed to memory. Copies are not used on the stage.
  • I'd like to Sponsor or Donate to the Choir
Click here to go to our sponsorship page for more information. Thank you.
  • How long is the usual rehearsal?
The Choir rehearse twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday between 7.30 - 9.00pm.
  • Do choristers have to buy music?
No, all music copies are provided free of charge to Choristers. All copies remain the property of the Choir and must not be copied or loaned out to anyone outside the Choir.
  • Who can join?
Anyone can! We have members of all ages, from all over Wales and beyond and from all walks of life.
  • Do you have to speak Welsh?
No. The majority of our members don't speak a single word of Welsh but still enjoy learning and singing the Male Voice Choir classics, in the Welsh language. All music is taught by our Musical Director who goes through the pronunciation of each piece throughly, as well as recording lyrics for choristers to practice on the members area.
  • How many concerts are there every year?
Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir are one of the busiest in Wales and undertake anywhere from 20 - 30 concerts each year.
  • Are Choristers expected to attend every rehearsal?
Whilst attendance at every rehearsal is not compulsory, Choristers are expected to attend as many of the twice-weekly rehearsals as possible.
  • Is Car Parking availble for rehearsal nights?
Yes. Car Parking is availble free of charge.
  • How often does the choir travel abroad?
The choir undertakes many performances throughout the UK and travels to Europe quite frequently. We have performed extensively throughout the United Kingdom and previous tours include performances in France, Italy, Austria, Spain, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Holland and Belgium.
